The sixth in Wolfburn's small-batch series, Batch 318 comes from a combination of lightly-peated spirit, matured for seven years in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts, combined with spirit matured for seven years in first-fill Bourbon barrels.
A generous, rounded, sumptuous whisky with exceptional depth of flavour. There's a hint of vanilla and oak present too. On the palate the depth of flavour is tremendous. Honey-laced porridge meets stewed apples and sultanas. The peat brings with it a touch of heat, while soft oak spices - cinnamon, cloves and ginger - are also present. All overlaid by a wonderful sherry sweetness.
Just 4,800 bottles in total.

In May 2011 the site of the old Wolfburn Distillery in Thurso, Caithness was rediscovered. After 150 years of neglect what was found was a barely discernible pile of stones, but one thing remained from the yesteryears of Wolfburn distillery; the water. The cold clear waters that fed the mash tun and stills all those years ago were still flowing just as they always had, and if the Wolf Burn was still there then the team from Woflburn reckoned the whisky could be too.
Wolfburn’s smooth and warming flavour stems from the unhurried way in which the spirit is made. Long fermentation is followed by gentle distillation, before the spirit is laid down in the best quality oak casks. The warehouses are beautifully dark and cool, providing the perfect environment for the spirit to mature into world-class single malt whisky.
